DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 047 clears the Z650's charcoal canister out of the frame and answers the purge circuit.
Key Features
- Kawasaki Z650 (2017–2026)
- Removes the evaporative canister and its hoses
- Vents the tank through a proper fitting
- Closes the purge valve circuit
- Clears the space behind the engine
- Standard parts refit at any time
Sugomi Styling
Applied more gently than on the larger Zs, which suits the motorcycle. It looks purposeful without being aggressive about it.
A Sensible Motorcycle
Nothing about the Z650 is exciting on paper and a great many owners keep them for years. That combination says more than any specification sheet.
Type Approval
Evaporative control belongs to the approval in the markets that mandate it, and removing it there moves the motorcycle into competition use.
Photograph the Routing
Two minutes with a camera before anything is disturbed makes the eventual refit straightforward, because the hose paths are impossible to reconstruct from memory.
Where the Fault Code Lives
Against the purge solenoid circuit, in the engine controller. The electronics have no way of knowing whether charcoal is present and no interest in finding out.
Corroded Clips
After several winters the spring clips are usually seized. Replacing them on the refit is worth the small cost and the small effort involved.
Not a Difficult Decision
For most owners the space and the reliability outweigh a system they never knew they had. The legal position is the only genuine consideration.
An Honest Recommendation
On a track bike, remove it without hesitation. On a road bike in a mandated market, understand what is being given up first.
On a Bike That Tours
Filling to the brim at every stop is exactly what a rider crossing empty country does, and exactly what ruins a charcoal bed. The models with the largest tanks therefore suffer most, which is the opposite of convenient.
A Sensible Motorcycle
Nothing about the Z650 is exciting on paper and a great many owners keep them for years. That combination says considerably more about a motorcycle than any specification sheet manages to.
