DescriptionThe whole story▼

For the rear of the Triumph Tiger 800 XRX, Accossato lists AGPP89 across 2015 to 2018, and the Sintered (ST) version is aimed at owners who tour. Two-up with cases, the XRX places significant weight on the rear wheel, and the rear brake plays a larger role in keeping the bike stable when slowing down. The ST compound is meant to provide constant grip at any temperature and good grip in the wet, which matters when touring through changing weather.

Key Features

  • AGPP89ST rear pad, Sintered (ST) compound
  • For the Triumph Tiger 800 XRX, 2015-2018
  • Accossato: high, constant grip at low and high temperatures; good wet grip
  • Chosen for two-up touring and luggage
  • Steady pedal on long wet descents
  • Two pads in the box for the rear caliper
  • Also available in Organic (OR)

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato frames the Sintered compound around reliability of feel: grip stays high and hardly moves between a cold pad and a hot one, and water on the disc does not rob it of bite. For a touring rear brake that is used to steady a heavy bike many times each hour, this is the property that matters. The company adds its standard claims for its pads: a long life, fade held off by moderate heat build-up and a strong stop.

When the Rear Wheel Carries More

With a passenger and full cases, a large part of the load sits over the XRX's rear axle, so the rear brake can do a real share of the slowing. Experienced tourers use it deliberately on descents: a light, constant pressure keeps the bike level and spares the front tyre in long sequences of hairpins. On a wet day, spray from the front wheel coats the rear disc for hours, and this is where a compound with dependable wet grip earns its place. Those who commute through the winter on gritty, salted roads will value the same qualities. For solo town use, the OR version is softer.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPP89 for the rear of the XRX from 2015 to 2018. At the front, AGPA72 fits 2015 to 2017 and AGPA29 fits 2018. Before a trip, check the rear pad and disc, look at the brake fluid, and rinse the caliper after riding on salted roads.

Road Approval

No German ABE or test documents for AGPP89ST are in our records. It is offered for competition use.
