DescriptionThe whole story▼
Aprilia's RSV4 arrived in 2009 as the bike for the company's return to World Superbike, and it has been a regular in track-day paddocks ever since. Its V4 engine asks for the same attention as any serious track bike, and the first job of the day comes before the tyre warmers go on: checking the oil. For the RSV4 from 2009 to 2019, Accossato lists the FP009, an oil filler cap machined from aluminium on CNC equipment, anodised in eight colours and made with an M25x1.5 thread.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia RSV4, 2009 to 2019
- Covers versions from the Factory SBK Racing to the Racing Factory
- Thread M25x1.5, according to Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Eight colours: black, red, silver, titanium, gold, blue, green, orange
- Adaptable to other motorcycles with a cap of the same size
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FP009 is Accossato's cap for a larger filler thread, M25x1.5. It is CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, which gives the surface its colour: black, red, silver, titanium, gold, blue, green or orange. Accossato states that it matches the applications on its list and that it can be adapted to other motorcycles using a cap of the same size. The only care it needs is a clean thread and a clean sealing face each time it goes in.
Oil Check at First Light
A paddock at dawn is quiet, cool and the right place for an oil check. The RSV4 has stood all night, the engine is cold, and nothing has been started yet. Position the bike exactly as the owner's manual requires for reading the level. If you are topping up, clean the area around the filler first; the paddock is dusty, and rubber crumbs from the day before end up everywhere. Pour slowly, read again, and refit the FP009 by hand, firmly but without force. Only then start the engine and fit the warmers. After the first session, when the bike is back on its stands, look at the filler and the engine casing below it for any wet trace. If you ever need to open the cap between sessions, let the engine cool completely first; a hot engine is never the moment to open the oil filler.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list for the RSV4 runs from the Factory SBK Racing of 2009 and 2010 through the APRC R and Factory APRC versions to the Racing Factory LE of 2015 to 2017, the Racing Factory of 2018 and its Euro 4 successor of 2019. The thread is M25x1.5. The same cap is also listed at Inter-Pace for the Tuono V4 1100 and for the MV Agusta F4. For the RSV4, Accossato also makes the TS003 cap for the front brake fluid reservoir. Please check your version against the list before ordering.
Road Approval
We have no ABE or test certificate for the FP009. It is offered for racing and circuit use.
