DescriptionThe whole story▼
From 2016, the Panigale 959 carried on where the 899 left off, with a larger version of its twin in a very similar superbike shape. Plenty of 959s are ridden on the road as often as on a circuit, and on the road a slide rarely happens where anyone expects it: a spill of diesel, a scattering of gravel, a car that stops without warning. What a rider does in the minutes afterwards matters, both for the rider and for the bike. Accossato's PF033 fits the Panigale 959 of 2016 to 2018 with black front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Panigale 959, 2016 to 2018
- Accossato code PF033, sold as a left and right pair
- Aluminium and plastic, in black
- Spacers, screws and further mounting parts in the kit, according to Accossato
- Rear axle sliders PP079 available for the same bike
- Replace after a heavy impact: the sliders are sacrificial
- No German ABE documented; offered for racing
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the PF033 from aluminium and plastic and delivers it as two black protectors, so each side of the front wheel gets one. The manufacturer includes spacers, screws and the other parts required to mount them. Their job on the Panigale 959 is to reach the ground first if the bike slides or falls over, and by taking that contact they can reduce the damage to the fork and the front axle area. They are not armour, and they cannot stop every scratch, but they are far simpler to replace than the components they shield.
The Minutes After a Slide
The first thing to check after a slide is yourself, not the Panigale 959. Adrenaline hides pain, so move carefully and take a moment before you stand up. On a public road, the next priority is other traffic: get yourself off the carriageway, and if the bike lies in a dangerous spot, warn approaching drivers before you try to move it. Switch off the ignition, because fuel can leak from a bike on its side. Lift it with your legs and a straight back, or wait for help; a superbike feels heavier than expected when it lies flat. Before riding on, look at the levers, the footrests, the handlebar and the front brake, check for dripping fluids and make sure the controls move freely. Ride the first few kilometres gently to feel whether anything is bent. At home, take a closer look at the sliders and their fixings, and replace any slider that has taken a heavy hit.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the PF033 for the Panigale 959 from 2016 to 2018. For the back of the same bike, the PP079 rear axle sliders are available, should you want protection at both ends. In our shop the PF033 is also listed for the Panigale 1199 and the Panigale 899. Compare your Panigale 959 with the application list before ordering, or send us the details and we will check.
Road Approval
For the PF033 on the Panigale 959 we have no test report and no ABE, which is why we sell it for motorsport use.
