DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a Yamaha YZ125 the clutch is used far more than on any four-stroke. The small two-stroke makes its strongest pull in a narrow range near the top of the revs, and the clutch is how riders keep it there: slipping it out of turns, fanning it before a jump, snapping it to wake the engine when the revs fall away. The left hand needs a lever it can work all day, and Accossato's C7266 is one for the YZ125 of 2015 to 2022: CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a long four-finger blade that can tip forward on a joint in a crash.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Yamaha YZ125, 2015 to 2022
- Fits the original clutch perch in place of the stock lever
- Long blade with space for four fingers
- Anti-break joint lets the blade fold forward on impact
- Machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Blade in black or blue on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for motocross use
Construction and Material Quality
The C7266 is milled from a solid block of Ergal 7075 in Italy. Ergal is the name under which the 7075 aluminium alloy is widely known there, and Accossato relies on its high strength for a lever that is strong, reliable and light. The lever breaks down into a dark base, which stays on the pivot at the clutch perch, and a black or blue blade carried on a folding joint. Being a clutch lever, the blade is long, with room for four fingers, which suits the constant work a two-stroke 125 asks of the left hand.
Living on the Pipe
Two-stroke riders call it keeping the bike on the pipe: holding the engine in the range where the expansion chamber does its work and the power arrives. On a YZ125 that range is narrow, and the clutch is the tool that keeps the engine inside it. Into a tight turn, the rider pulls the lever to stop the revs dying; on the way out, the clutch is slipped while the throttle opens, so the engine is already spinning when the drive reaches the rear wheel. Before a jump face it may be fanned once to bring the revs up. Over a whole moto, the left hand works almost as hard as the right.
All that work means the clutch lever is the control a 125 rider notices first when it is damaged. A lever bent in a crash sits in the wrong place and changes the feel of the friction point just when precision matters most. The C7266 reduces the chance of that: when the YZ125 falls on its left, its blade can fold forward on the joint, avoiding the full blow that bends or snaps a solid lever. A big crash can still do damage, so check it before the next moto. More often than not, though, the rider should be able to get back on the pipe with a clutch that works.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7266 is listed for the Yamaha YZ125 from 2015 to 2022 and fits the original clutch perch. Earlier YZ125s are not covered by this clutch lever. The B8265 folding brake lever covers a longer span, 2008 to 2022, and is also made in green; black and blue are the colours available on both sides.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7266. It is a motocross part for a motocross bike, intended for the track and competition.
