Two quantities change across this one part number, and they are nowhere near the same size. On the demand side the engine grows from 500 cm³ at the head of the fitment list to 625 in the Valico DSX of 2025 and 2026: a quarter more air per revolution, and the standard element was specified with that largest engine already on the list. On the supply side, the step from the standard cloth to this racing weave is a tripling of the rated flow. A quarter against a factor of three — the part answers a question far bigger than the range ever asked.
Key Features
- Dry polyester in the racing weave, one layer, oiled neither in the box nor after a wash
- Rated flow 15,000 l/m²/sec at an 85 µm opening, the highest in the Sprint Filter programme
- Retention 95.22 per cent at 100 microns, against 93.13 for the road-and-track medium
- Around twice the filtering area of other performance elements, in the unmodified housing
- Seats where the paper panel sat, leaving the airbox sealed and the mapping as delivered
- Cleaned with compressed air for as long as the bike is kept; two years of warranty
One housing, three displacements
Sprint Filter numbers its elements by the airbox, which is why 500, 525 and 625 cm³ machines all arrive at the same code. The consequence is easy to miss. Whatever margin the standard CM251S carries, it carries on the biggest engine of the group as well, because that engine is on the same list — the 625 is where the margin is thinnest, and it is still margin. Putting a medium rated at 15,000 l/m²/sec on top of that adds capacity above a ceiling nothing was reaching.
Where the tripling would be spent
At sustained full throttle high in the rev range, session after session, on an engine whose intake is serviced by hours rather than by the odometer. That is the setting the racing weave is cut for, and it carries a cost that applies everywhere else: five microns more opening, on every ride, in exchange. For a road-registered 625 the standard CM251S at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec is the proportionate part; where the ground is loose and dusty, the CM251T12 at 7 µm and 560 is the one that answers the question actually being asked. None of the three makes a standard Valico DSX noticeably stronger, and any listing that promises otherwise is describing a different product.
Care and cleaning
A compressor, a few minutes, and the CM251S F1-85 is back at its starting resistance: air on the clean face, directed outwards. Where a wet or gritty stretch has left more than dust behind, lukewarm water and a mild detergent will clear it, followed by a rinse until the water leaves clean. Drying happens in open air and only there — heat and flames are the two reliable ways to destroy it — and it goes back in dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Voge Valico DSX of 2025 and 2026, 625 cm³, as a direct replacement in the standard airbox. Nine Voge listings are covered by this racing element, running from 2020 to 2026 across three displacements. The complete list is in the Fitment tab.
