Some motorcycles are counted in kilometres and some in weekends. If the GSX-8TT, new for 2026, is your good-weather machine rather than your only one, it will age by the calendar more than by the odometer — brought out when the day is worth it, then stood up again. An airbox does not stop taking in dust and damp air because the annual mileage is modest, and an element left in place for years because the mileage never seemed to justify a new one is not in the condition its price implied. The Sprint Filter P08 SM245S is made to be taken out and looked at — the only honest way to know.
Key Features
- Washable and reusable, so condition decides rather than mileage
- 80 microns of filtration at 5,050 litres per square metre per second
- Dry polyester with no oil — nothing to thin, run or dry out while the bike stands
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- Goes into the standard airbox unchanged: no modification, no remap
- Built to last the life of the motorcycle; two years of warranty
Standing is its own kind of use
Over a winter in a garage the air in the intake still moves as the temperature does, still carries dust, and still condenses on cold metal when the weather turns. A dry element takes none of that personally: there is no oil film to thin, migrate or dry to a crust, so what comes out in spring is the weave that went in. The check before the first ride of the year is compressed air from the clean side outwards and a look at the sealing face — a few minutes, nothing to buy, no waiting on a part. That is a service a fair-weather owner will actually carry out, which is worth more than any interval printed in a book and never reached.
Bought once, deliberately
On a low-mileage bike the arithmetic of a disposable element is poor. It gets replaced because a date came round rather than because it was used up, and the same outlay repeats every couple of years for as long as the bike is owned. Sprint Filter build the P08 to last as long as the motorcycle: a single layer of woven polyester, spun from threads of 22 microns and upwards, filtering at 80 microns and flowing 5,050 litres per square metre per second across roughly double the surface of other filters. It will not make the GSX-8TT quicker — nothing inside a standard airbox will — but it holds the intake resistance near where it started. Where conditions are harder, finer weaves follow: P037 at 37 microns, P14 at 14, T12 at 7, each one trading flow for retention.
Care and cleaning
An air line held to the clean side and blown outwards is the standard service, and the first ride of the year is a good moment for it. Deeper cleaning means lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, then open air until the SM245S is dry through. Never heat, never a flame; refit it dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-8TT, model year 2026, a direct replacement in the standard airbox. The same element covers four Suzuki models in all; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
