The company weaves the same polyester at several densities, and every step towards a finer cloth buys retention and spends flow. Reading the range as a ranking is the commonest mistake made when choosing one — including on a machine like the RC 250, sold largely into places where the air is not the cool, clean sort that specification sheets quietly assume.

Finer is not better, it is different

The range runs from the P08 F1-85 at 85 µm and 15,000 l/m²/sec, through this P08 at 80 µm and 5,050, the water-repellent P037 at 37 µm and 4,500, the P14 at 14 µm and 1,800, down to the T12 at 7 µm and 560. It will not make the bike quicker — a drop-in element never does on a standard road machine — and it does not pretend to filter like a P14. Care and cleaning

Whichever medium you end up with, the routine is the same one: compressed air on the clean side, working outward, and the element goes back dry. Mild detergent and water at hand temperature deal with whatever the air leaves behind, followed by a rinse until the water is clear and however long it takes to dry in still air.
