Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – KTM 1050 Adventure (2015–2016) PM155S

The 1050 Adventure exists because of a licence category. KTM took the big LC8 V-twin, brought its output down to a figure a restricted licence could accept, and sold it to riders who wanted the large-capacity chassis without the paperwork problem. Everything upstream of the throttle bodies stayed as it was — the airbox, the intake tract, the element inside it. That is why one Sprint Filter part number serves this machine and the unrestricted V-twins alongside it.

A detuned engine does not want a detuned filter

It is tempting to assume that less power means less air and therefore less filter. It does not work that way. The restriction an element imposes is a property of the element and the airbox, not of the map running above them, and a loaded paper filter costs a detuned engine exactly what it costs an unrestricted one. If anything the case is stronger here: an engine already held below its capability has less in reserve to hide a slow rise in intake restriction behind. The P08 PM155S is the same element the 1190 and the 1290 use, and it does the same job on all of them.

Ten years on from the last one built

The 1050 Adventure was current for two model years. A decade later the machines still running are owned by people who chose them deliberately and intend to keep them, which puts the emphasis on parts that stay obtainable. The PM155S spans thirteen KTM and Husqvarna models, several still in production, so it is not a part that quietly leaves the catalogue. And because it is washable rather than consumable, the one already in the airbox is generally the one that stays there.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and let it dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame.
