This listing carries a single model year. That is the sort of line which catches an owner out later — not on the day the motorcycle is bought, but eight or ten years on, when a service item for a short-listed variant has quietly gone out of production and the hunting starts. PM187S answers that in the least dramatic way available: a washable element specified to last as long as the motorcycle, so the question of sourcing another one largely stops arising.
Key Features
- One dry layer of woven polyester, unoiled from new and unoiled again after cleaning
- Rated 5,050 l/m²/sec through an 80 µm aperture — the road and track medium
- Holds back a quoted 93.13 per cent of 100-micron test particles
- Around twice the cloth area of a typical performance panel, inside the standard frame
- Goes into the series airbox in the paper element's place, without modification or remap
- Regenerated with compressed air instead of replaced, with two years of warranty from purchase
What a one-year listing does not change
Nothing mechanical. The Bagger shares its airbox with the GT, the GTL and the GTL Exclusive, so this panel is neither rare nor a special order — the short span belongs to a model name, not to a housing. It is worth stating plainly, because a single-season variant tends to attract the assumption that its parts will be a problem. Here the reverse holds: the element is the most widely shared component on the list, and the machines sharing it were built across the best part of a decade.
What the medium is doing
The P08 is one dry layer of woven polyester with an 80 µm aperture, rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec and quoted at 93.13 per cent retention against 100-micron test particles. It is the standard road specification and it is not a power part: dropped into an unmodified airbox it will not make a series Bagger noticeably stronger, and no honest description should imply that it might. What it offers instead is a restriction that begins low and is returned to that value at every service, rather than climbing steadily until the panel is thrown out.
Care and cleaning
Air first: a compressor line held against the clean face of the PM187S drives the season's load back out the way it entered, which takes minutes and can be done with the panel in your hands beside the bike. Washing covers the rest — lukewarm water, a little mild detergent, rinsing until it runs clear — and it is needed far less often than people expect. Drying then follows one rule that has no exceptions: moving air only. Heaters, ovens and flames all ruin the medium, and the element must go back dry and be left unoiled. The maintenance sheet is under the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the BMW K 1600 Bagger of 2017, seated in the standard airbox with no modification and no remap. Four K 1600 variants take this element between them and their combined spans run from 2010 to 2019, so an owner ordering for a Bagger is buying the same panel a 2010 GT takes. Each machine and its years are set out under the Fitment tab.
