DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some riders want their goggle to disappear into the kit; this one does the opposite. The Gladius Yellow Fluo wraps a clear lens in a neon yellow frame and strap. Sidi keeps the weight at 120 grams and adds room for prescription glasses.
Key Features
- Fluorescent yellow frame and strap
- Category 0 clear lens, the brightest in Sidi's range
- For overcast, cloudy and low-light days
- Scratch-resistant lens surface
- OTG design for glasses wearers
- Dual-layer foam, silicone-lined strap
- 120 g, single size
Where It Belongs
Clear lenses are the tool for flat light. Sidi's own guidance for the Gladius lists cloudy skies, overcast weather and low-light riding. Think winter training, tight woods sections or an evening practice. In those conditions every bit of contrast counts.
Lens Data
Category 0 means 80 to 100 percent visible light transmission in Sidi's lens chart. The other two bands, Category 1 smoke and the mirrored Category 2, filter progressively more light. Sidi mentions a reinforced lens construction on the Gladius and a scratch-resistant treatment that protects against dirt, debris and normal wear.
Glasses, Foam and Strap
Inside, the OTG geometry gives space for spectacles, and Sidi claims the frame remains stable while it surrounds them. The face side is lined with two layers of foam for a comfortable seal and moisture management. A printed elastic strap with silicone inside keeps the goggle on the helmet during jumps and on rough terrain.
Build and Weight
The frame, described by Sidi as anti-intrusion, is mostly TPU (45 percent) and polycarbonate (25 percent). PES accounts for 15 percent, PU foam for 12 percent, and silicone and other materials for the last 3 percent. All of that adds up to 120 grams. Sidi says replaceable components extend the goggle's life; ask us about specific parts.
What You Should Know
This goggle offers no tint at all, so it will be uncomfortable in direct sun. Sidi gives no protective standard, and we found no mention of anti-fog treatment, tear-off or roll-off compatibility, or an extra lens in the box. Fluorescent colours lose some of their glow after long UV exposure, so do not leave the goggle on the dashboard of a van all summer.
Colour
On the product image the frame glows in an acid yellow with a green cast, and the nose area looks a touch greener than the rest. The strap matches the frame, with the large Sidi logo and the small adjusters in black. That black lettering on neon makes the strap easy to read from a distance. For visibility in the pits or on a group ride it is hard to beat, while brown mud stands out clearly against the bright plastic.
