DescriptionThe whole story▼
Grey skies, a wet forest loop, the last moto of the day when the sun is already gone: that is where a clear lens earns its place. The Sidi Gladius in Black uses an untinted Category 0 lens inside an all-black frame and weighs 120 grams.
Key Features
- Clear Category 0 lens, 80–100% visible light transmission
- Made for cloudy, overcast and low-light riding
- Scratch-resistant lens with reinforced construction (Sidi)
- OTG fit over prescription glasses
- Dual-layer foam
- Strap with silicone lining for helmet grip
- 120 g, one size
Clear Lens for Low Light
Category 0 is the lightest band in Sidi's chart: 80 to 100 percent of visible light passes the lens. Sidi recommends it for cloud cover, overcast days and dim conditions, where any tint would cost you detail in ruts and roots. The lens has a scratch-resistant treatment, and Sidi describes the lens construction on the Gladius as reinforced.
Frame and Construction
The frame is described by Sidi as anti-intrusion, meant to keep dirt and debris out. Materials are mostly TPU and polycarbonate, with PES, PU foam and a small share of silicone. The complete goggle weighs 120 grams, which keeps pressure on the nose low on longer days.
Spectacle Wearers
Sidi builds the Gladius with integrated Over The Glasses space. The goal is to wear your prescription glasses underneath while the goggle still sits securely in the helmet. As with any OTG goggle, the shape of your glasses matters; slim, low frames tend to fit best.
Strap and Seal
The elastic band is printed and lined with silicone, which grips the helmet shell instead of sliding. Behind the frame, two layers of foam seal against the face and handle sweat. The goggle comes in one size.
Spare Parts
Replaceable components are part of Sidi's concept for a longer goggle life. Which parts are offered individually is not specified in the documentation we have, so please ask before ordering.
What You Should Know
A clear lens offers no glare reduction. On bright, sunny days you will squint, and a tinted lens such as the Gladius Smoke is the better choice. Sidi's documentation does not mention an anti-fog coating, tear-off pins, a roll-off system or a second lens in the box. No protective standard is stated for this goggle.
Colour
The photo shows a fully black frame with a soft gloss and, through the clear lens, a slightly smoky look caused by the dark frame behind it. The wide strap is very dark grey with a big white Sidi logo, and the adjusters are black. The look is neutral and fits every bike colour. Dust shows as a grey veil on black, while dark mud almost disappears.
