DescriptionThe whole story▼
The R version of the Speed Triple 1050 arrived with Brembo monoblocs and Öhlins suspension, which raises the standard for everything the rider touches. A lever with slack in its pivot undermines a brake package like that; one on ball bearings answers the first millimetre of the pull.
Key Features
- An optional remote adjuster can be retrofitted to change the span while riding
- CNC-machined from high-strength aluminium, anodised
- Folding lever, swings clear instead of breaking in a fall
- Double ball bearings instead of plain bushings, so the lever has no play
- Span adjustment: five positions, set by a precise and smooth adjuster
- Approved under ABE No. KBA 91507 (Gilles)
Type NN01
Gilles lists the Speed Triple 1050 S, R and ABS of 2016 and 2017 under this Triumph code.
Folding blade
On a naked bike the lever is the first thing to touch the ground. The MPL folds rather than breaking at the perch.
Road Approval
Gilles lists the MPL levers as approved under ABE No. KBA 91507 and names the Triumph SPEED TRIPLE 1050 R (NN 01) in the fitment list for this number. The certificate is supplied with the lever and belongs with the vehicle papers. Gilles does not publish the document, so we do not quote its conditions here; if you need them before ordering, ask us and we will request the current wording. Gilles notes that the TÜV entry for this number is currently being updated.
Scope of Delivery
In the box: one MPL brake lever, ready to fit. The clutch lever is ordered separately.
Fitting
The lever replaces the original one at the master cylinder, with the original pivot bolt and nut. Set the span, then check that the brake light switch and the free play behave as before and that the lever folds and returns by itself.
