DescriptionThe whole story▼
For a 2018 to 2023 Yamaha MT-09 SP running on track, Accossato offers the front pad in its ZXC ceramic racing compound as the AGPA97ZXC. Ceramic racing material is not something a road rider needs; it is for an owner who has already settled on suspension settings and tyres, and now wants to see whether a different pad changes how the SP enters a corner under brakes. It is also a sensible spare set to keep in the van for a weekend when conditions change.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Yamaha MT-09 SP, 2018 to 2023
- Article AGPA97ZXC in ZXC ceramic racing compound
- Ceramic, and ideal for racing, in Accossato's words
- For track-prepared SPs, as a setup option or spare set
- A box contains two pads for one caliper
- The SP needs two boxes to cover both front calipers
- The 2024-on SP takes the AGPA106 plate
- No German ABE available to us; track and competition only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's ZXC is a ceramic racing compound, and the brand's one-line summary is that it is ideal for racing. It uses the AGPA97 plate shared with the other materials for the first-generation SP, so a change between compounds at the circuit takes no more time than a normal pad swap. As with every Accossato pad, the design is meant to keep heat under control and so reduce fade.
A Spare Set in the Van
Race weekends rarely go exactly to plan. Temperatures change, a session is red-flagged, a crash damages a caliper, or a pad set wears faster than expected at a new circuit. Having a labelled spare set of fronts in the van for the SP turns those problems into a short job rather than the end of the weekend. A ceramic set like the ZXC can double as a second option when the rider wants a different feel. Keep the pads in their box until needed, store them away from oil and fuel, and carry the tools, cleaner and fluid required to fit them properly in the pits.
Fitment and Compatibility
On the MT-09 SP built between 2018 and 2023, the front calipers take Accossato's AGPA97 shape; the SP from 2024 onwards moves to the AGPA106, and the AGPP88 covers the rear on all of them. Two front calipers call for two boxes. Clean and retract the pistons carefully, look at the discs for wear and heat marks, and use fresh fluid. Accossato's list also includes the DK077 and DKS073 discs for this SP.
Road Approval
We have no German ABE or approval documents for this ceramic pad, so the AGPA97ZXC is supplied for circuit racing and competition.
Scope of Delivery
