DescriptionThe whole story▼

Of the two CB1100 variants, the RS was the tauter one: cast wheels, firmer suspension and trim in darker tones, aimed at riders who wanted the air-cooled four with a sharper edge. Dark motorcycles have a particular relationship with small coloured parts, since one anodised component on an otherwise sober machine is either a well-judged accent or an obvious mistake. Accossato's FP004 gives you eight ways to decide, as an aluminium oil filler cap with an M20x2.5 thread.

Key Features

  • Oil filler cap for the Honda CB1100RS, 2017 and 2018
  • Thread size M20x2.5, as quoted by Accossato
  • Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment, then anodised
  • Eight colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, titanium, gold
  • Black and titanium for a discreet result, red or gold for contrast
  • Usable on other motorcycles with a filler of the same size
  • No German ABE in our files; a competition part

Construction and Material Quality

CNC machines give the FP004 its shape in aluminium; anodising gives it colour that belongs to the surface of the metal and does not chip off the grip ribs after a few seasons. Eight finishes are available, and on a CB1100RS the decision is essentially between joining in and standing out: black and titanium follow the bike's own palette, silver sits between the two, and red, gold, orange, blue or green mark the filler as a deliberate choice. Accossato quotes the thread, M20x2.5, as the single relevant dimension, together with the observation that machines outside its own list can use the cap if their filler is the same size.

A Dark Bike and One Point of Colour

Whichever colour you land on, the work behind it is the same modest routine. Let the CB1100RS stand until the engine is genuinely cold; a reading taken too soon is a reading taken twice. Hold or support the machine as the owner's manual requires while checking the level, since a bike leaning on its stand will show you something that has no bearing on reality. Clean around the filler before opening it, because dirt sitting on the casing has exactly one opportunity to get inside and this is it. Give the thread and the sealing face a wipe if they need it, on both the cap and the cover. Add oil a little at a time if the level asks for it, using the grade the manual names, and check between additions instead of afterwards. Turn the FP004 home by hand until it seats. Force is not required, is not helpful, and only makes the next check harder. After the first ride, look under the engine and confirm that it is dry.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the FP004 for the CB1100RS in 2017 and 2018. Because the M20x2.5 thread is what governs the fit, machines beyond that list are equally well served if their filler matches, and our catalogue shows the same cap for the Diavel, the Monster 1200 S and the Hypermotard 950 SP. Anyone whose engine cover has been changed, or who is unsure what is currently fitted, should measure the thread rather than assume it.

Road Approval

We hold no ABE and no test document for the FP004, so it appears in this catalogue as a part for racing and competition.

Scope of Delivery
