DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ducati named the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak after the famous race up a Colorado mountain, and some owners take the idea literally. Across Europe, clubs run hill climbs on closed mountain roads, and a sporty adventure bike with good suspension and an upright position is not out of place among the entries. It is racing, though, with timing, kerbs, straw bales and a paddock on a slope. For the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak of 2016 and 2017, Accossato lists the PF05 front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak, 2016 and 2017
- Accossato PF05 front fork protection
- Two black protectors
- Aluminium and plastic
- Accossato packs spacers, screws and all further mounting parts
- Also listed for this bike: PP069 rear axle sliders
- No German ABE on file; intended for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's PF05 consists of two black protectors, made from aluminium and plastic, one for each side of the front. The kit, according to Accossato, contains the spacers, the screws and all the other parts needed to mount it. For competition, that simplicity is welcome. If the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak slides or falls, the sliders are intended to meet the ground before the fork, which can reduce the damage at the front. Once a slider is worn or cracked it is replaced, and a spare pair in the van is never wasted at a race meeting.
Entering a Hill Climb
Hill climbs are among the most accessible forms of motorsport for road riders, but they come with rules. The organiser sets the technical requirements, from lights and mirrors that must be taped or removed to the clothing allowed, and a scrutineer checks every bike before practice. Read the regulations early, because some events ask for a licence from the national federation and proof of insurance. On the day, walk or ride the course at road speed first to learn its bumps, cambers and drains, and note where the run-off is short. Runs are brief, so the tyres rarely reach full temperature; treat the first corners of each one with respect. A paddock on a mountain road is often sloping and gravelly, so park the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak with care between runs, facing uphill with a gear engaged. And accept that the aim is a clean run, not a spectacular one.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the PF05 for the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak of 2016 and 2017, and we have linked it to those years. For the rear of the same bike, the PP069 axle sliders are listed with identical years. The PF05 also appears in our shop for the Multistrada 1200 Enduro and the Monster 1200 R. Before an event, check what the organiser's technical rules say about protection parts, and after fitting, turn the bars of your Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak through their full range with the front wheel spinning freely.
Road Approval
For the PF05 there is no German ABE or test mark available to us, so we sell the sliders for racing and competition use.
