DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of Honda CB650F owners ride their four-cylinder roadster all year, not only when the sun is out, and a bike used like that ends up with dirty brakes. Road spray, grit and winter salt settle on the discs and wear the friction surface faster than dry weekend rides ever do. Accossato's DK230 is a floating front disc from the Elite line, listed for the CB650F from 2014 to 2018. It measures 320 mm across, keeps the 5 mm thickness of the original disc and holds its friction ring on a black carrier.
Key Features
- Floating front brake disc for the Honda CB650F, 2014 to 2018
- Elite line, with the Accossato logo on the rivets
- 320 mm outer diameter, 210 mm inner diameter
- 5 mm thick, the same thickness as the original disc
- Friction ring mounted on a black carrier
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- Price for one disc; the CB650F runs two at the front
- No German ABE or type approval documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
A floating disc is built from two parts. The outer ring is what the pads clamp, the carrier in the middle bolts to the wheel, and rivets join the two while leaving the ring a little freedom to move. On the DK230 the carrier is black and every rivet carries the Accossato logo, the mark of the Elite line. Accossato says its experience with brake discs comes from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and that the fit between carrier and ring was studied in depth. The ring is 5 mm thick, just like the part Honda fits.
Grit, Rain and the Daily Ride
Wet roads do more to a brake disc than most riders expect. Spray from the front tyre carries fine grit into the calipers, and every stop grinds a little of it between pad and ring. After a winter of commuting on a CB650F, it is common to find fine grooves running round the friction surface and a small lip forming at its outer edge. A few habits help. Rinse the wheels with plain water after salty rides and let the bike dry before you cover it. Expect the first stop after a rainy night to feel softer, because a thin film of surface rust sits on the discs until the pads wipe it away. Keep chain spray and cleaning products well clear of the discs; if either reaches them, clean the rings with brake cleaner and consider fresh pads. And whenever you check the tyre pressures, run a fingernail across both discs. Grooves deep enough to catch the nail are a reason to measure the thickness. Accossato's own guideline is to change a disc after roughly thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or sooner once it is scored, cracked or below the minimum printed on it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK230 for the Honda CB650F from 2014 to 2018 and names the bike both with and without ABS. The CB650F carries two front discs and the price here covers one, so a complete change means ordering two. No other Accossato disc is listed for this model. For the controls, the range includes the EDF018 brake lever and the ESH065 clutch lever for the same bike. Tighten the disc bolts to the value given in Honda's manual.
Road Approval
For the DK230 there is no German ABE and no type approval on file. We therefore sell it for use on closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
