Most ranges leave a question hanging: what would the next step up have bought? This one closes it. Seven microns is where the Sprint Filter programme ends — nothing in it filters finer, and by the same token nothing in it passes less air. On a 625 cm³ Valico DSX of 2025 or 2026 that makes the CM251T12 an unusually simple thing to reason about. There is no unknown rung above it, no better version being held in reserve, and no need to wonder whether spending more would have bought more protection.
Key Features
- The last step in the range: a dry polyester non-woven rated at 7 microns
- Rated flow 560 l/m²/sec, the lowest figure Sprint Filter publishes, against 5,050 for the road medium
- Non-woven and dry from new, so there is no oil to apply, to renew after washing or to lose downstream
- Roughly double the filtering area of other performance elements, in the unchanged housing
- Seats where the paper panel sat, leaving the airbox its lid, its seal and its calibration
- Cleaned rather than consumed, and covered for two years from the date of purchase
The end of one list is the end of the other
Both ends move together, because they are one property described twice. The finest medium in a catalogue is necessarily its slowest breathing one, and the figures say by how much: 7 microns and 560 l/m²/sec here, 80 microns and 5,050 for the standard element in the same housing. Around a ninth of the flow through a given area of material — the widest gap between any two media in the programme, and one paid on every ride rather than only on the dusty ones. No version of this part avoids that, which is the honest meaning of a range that has run out of rungs.
What the catalogue can no longer decide for you
With the finest available element in the box, the remaining variable stops being a part number. It becomes how often the box is opened. A medium this tight reaches a given loading sooner in the same air than a coarser one would, so the routine counts for more here than anywhere else in the range — and the element was built for precisely that, being cleaned and put back rather than bought again. Which leaves one last thing to say without ornament. Fitting the CM251T12 does not add power to a standard Valico DSX; a filter element cannot, and one specified this fine least of all. It buys retention, and it charges flow for it.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air on the clean face, worked outwards, returns the CM251T12 to the resistance it started at. Where mud or salt has left a film that air will not lift, lukewarm water with a mild detergent does it, followed by a rinse until the water leaves clean. Drying belongs in open air and nowhere near heat: a hot air gun, an oven or a flame ends the element in seconds. Fit it dry, leave it untreated, and find the maintenance sheet in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Voge Valico DSX of 2025 and 2026, 625 cm³, as a direct replacement in the standard airbox. Five listings share this element, the Valico DS and DSX between 2020 and 2026. The complete list is in the Fitment tab.
