DescriptionThe whole story▼

Fitted to the Suzuki GSX1300R HAYABUSA (2008–2026), the Öhlins SU 026 replaces the standard unit outright. The unit it replaces was chosen when the GSX1300R HAYABUSA was costed, not when it was developed.

Key Features

  • Spring rate as delivered: 140 N/mm, matched to the GSX1300R HAYABUSA
  • Twin-tube TTX damper layout
  • Adjustable overall length for ride-height and geometry changes
  • Adjustable rebound damping through a dedicated click adjuster on the damper body
  • Gas-pressurised damper with a piggyback external reservoir
  • Adjustable compression damping via the gold click adjuster
  • Built for the Suzuki GSX1300R HAYABUSA (2008–2026); fits without modification
  • Remote hydraulic spring-preload adjuster on a flexible hose

How Öhlins Builds It

Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain. Öhlins sets a baseline for each part number on the machine it was developed on, so it works before anything is adjusted. Materials read unremarkably on paper — aluminium, steel, nitrogen — and the difference lies in how precisely they are made.

Where This Sits in the Öhlins Line-up

Two tubes, two pressurised circuits, and adjusters that meter flow directly rather than bleeding it — that is why a TTX responds cleanly to a single click where a monotube often needs three. TTX is Öhlins' twin-tube architecture, and it exists to solve one specific problem: cavitation. Öhlins uses the same architecture in its racing programme; the TTX GP is that hardware sold over the counter.

Damping and Adjustment

With 65 mm of stroke the damping curve has to do its work in a short distance. Rate as supplied is 140 N/mm, matched by Öhlins to this machine rather than to the platform. Spring 01095-54 is what ships with the damper; harder and softer rates are available. Overall length is adjustable within 330 +4/-2 mm, enough to change rear ride height and with it how quickly the GSX1300R HAYABUSA turns. Adjustment is by click rather than by feel, so a setting can be written down and returned to. Öhlins publishes a baseline setting for each part number, which is the sensible starting point.

Setting It Up for the GSX1300R HAYABUSA

This part number spans model years 2008 to 2026; earlier and later generations take different numbers.

Fitment and Compatibility

What follows applies to the Suzuki GSX1300R HAYABUSA built 2008–2026, which is the machine SU 026 is listed for. Because the settings are model-specific, fitting it to a related machine would mean running the wrong specification.

Road Approval

Road approval: ABE (Germany). The unit is covered by a German ABE for the Suzuki GSX1300R HAYABUSA, so no individual inspection or entry in the vehicle documents is required. The approval document ships with the product.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins components deliver what they promise once they are fitted and set up properly. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do exactly that in house — installation, service and setup. Simply ask if you would like us to take care of it.
