Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 04798-02

Original Öhlins service part

Where It Sits

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. A check valve holds pressure in one direction and opens in the other; a worn one lets damping bleed away. Jets meter fixed bleed flow and are sized in tenths of a millimetre.

Genuine Service Part

Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Order under 04798-02. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Twin-tube pistons have separate paths for compression and rebound, which is the whole point of the design. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04798-02

Category: Piston Bands

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04798-02_9281b64a-39e1-463c-88f9-16efb580dfb8.png?v=1788873594
