Öhlins machines its pistons so the port edges stay sharp and the flow predictable. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft. The seat face has to be flat enough for the first shim to seal against it.

Original Öhlins Part

Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. Suspension is one of the few areas where the original part is genuinely the cheaper decision. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you.

Getting the Number Right

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 03604-02 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. The thread is M12. A check valve holds pressure in one direction and opens in the other; a worn one lets damping bleed away. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft.

Fitting and Setup Service

Fitting service parts means opening a pressurised unit. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do that here, with the right tools and a dyno check afterwards — just ask.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 03604-02

Category: Pistons

Thread: M12

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/03604-02_b8303710-01dc-4ced-8469-6413ac69f287.png?v=1788874931
