DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ACCGP KT016 brings the GP Series short-stroke throttle to the KTM 990 Duke (2024–2026), cutting the rotation needed to reach full opening while keeping the ride-by-wire mapping untouched, and adding a return spring the standard unit never offered.
Key Features
- KTM 990 Duke (2024–2026)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
Why the Duke Asks for This
A naked twin with the throttle response the 990 Duke carries rewards a rider who can modulate the opening in small steps rather than one long twist. Through roundabouts and filtering traffic the standard travel asks for more wrist movement than the bike's character really needs, which this unit shortens without touching the electronics underneath.
Three Clicks, Not One Setting
The preload on the return spring is set from outside in three stages, so the resistance felt at the grip can be tuned without opening the housing. A rider who prefers a firmer snap-back dials it up; one who wants the throttle to sit wherever the hand leaves it backs it off. Either way the twin's fuelling stays exactly as KTM programmed it.
Sixty Degrees Instead of the Full Arc
Reducing the rotation to sixty degrees means the same opening the factory grip needed a much wider sweep to reach now happens over a shorter arc. For a bike ridden through city traffic and tight direction changes, less wrist travel per input adds up over a day in the saddle.
Milled, Not Moulded
The housing is machined from a solid block of 7075 Ergal rather than cast, which is why the lever action stays consistent after repeated use instead of loosening with wear. It bolts to the existing bar clamp and switchgear without any cutting or rewiring of the Duke's loom.
After It Goes On
Once fitted, a short diagnostic reset teaches the ride-by-wire system the new throttle position sensor range, a step most workshops familiar with KTM electronics complete in minutes. Skipping it tends to show up as an uneven idle rather than any lasting issue.
Keeping the Door Open
Nothing about the installation is permanent. The original KTM grip can go back on at any point, which matters to an owner who wants to try the shorter throw before committing, or who simply likes knowing the stock part is still in a drawer somewhere.
