DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered from pre-preg carbon fibre and machined 6082 T6 aluminium, the BST GP TEK front wheel is a masterclass in motorsport construction — purpose-built for the Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M across generations RN32, RN49 and RN65 (2015–2026). At just 1.7 kg without bearings and spacers, it eliminates rotational mass where it matters most, delivering razor-sharp turn-in and unwavering high-speed stability on circuit.
Key Features
- Exceptional low weight of 3.75 lbs / 1.7 kg (excluding bearings and spacers) for immediate, communicative steering response
- Pre-preg carbon fibre rim paired with a precision-machined 6082 T6 aluminium hub — every component chosen for the optimum strength-to-weight ratio
- Titanium Grade 5 inserts, bolts and nuts throughout, reducing unsprung mass while withstanding extreme competition loads
- Pre-preg carbon fibre inner spacer for further weight savings without compromising structural rigidity
- DOT E and JWL certified, cleared for track use with confidence
- 90° aluminium ultra-high-speed valve supplied with cap as standard
- Backed by a 2-year manufacturer warranty
Construction & Materials
BST builds the GP TEK to a standard that goes well beyond conventional aftermarket wheels. The rim itself is laid up from pre-preg carbon fibre — the same process used in top-level motorsport — delivering a consistent, void-free laminate with predictable mechanical behaviour under load. The hub is CNC-machined from 6082 T6 aluminium alloy, a grade selected for its combination of high tensile strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Every fastener on the wheel — inserts, bolts and nuts — is machined from Titanium Grade 5, keeping the assembly as light as possible while meeting the extreme demands of competitive riding. The inner spacer is also carbon fibre, replacing heavier metal components and contributing to the wheel's remarkable overall mass figure.
Load Ratings & Performance Data
Despite its featherweight construction, the GP TEK front wheel is rated for serious structural loads. The 3.5-inch variant carries a radial load rating of 275 kg; the 3.75-inch variant is rated to 327 kg. Both sizes share a static load rating of 330 lbs / 150 kg, a cornering load rating of 783 Nm and a torsional load rating of 908 Nm — figures that demonstrate the rigorous engineering behind the carbon and aluminium structure.
Track Use Notice
GP TEK wheels are developed exclusively for motorsport and competition use. They are not intended for road or general road-legal daily riding. Always confirm compliance with the regulations of your competition series before fitting.
