DescriptionThe whole story▼

Going downhill in the rain is where a rear brake shows its character. The road drops away in long wet curves, the bike is heavier than usual because the week's luggage is aboard, and the pedal is doing steady work between corners rather than one firm push now and then. Accossato's Sintered (ST) version of the AGPP91 rear pad is meant for riders who meet that regularly on a BMW F700GS, and it is listed for the machine from 2013 to 2016.

Key Features

  • Sintered (ST) rear pads for the BMW F700GS, article number AGPP91ST
  • Model years 2013 to 2016, rear wheel
  • A grip level that Accossato describes as high and constant, cold or hot
  • Still bites when the disc is running wet
  • Two pads per box, filling the single rear caliper
  • Same outline available in an Organic (OR) version for gentler duty
  • The front wheel takes the AGPA92 pad, catalogued 2013 to 2018
  • No approval documents on record; offered for the circuit

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's argument for this material is that its behaviour holds still. The grip it produces does not rise as the pad warms up or sink when it has been standing overnight, and water on the disc is not enough to interrupt it. At the back of a motorcycle that quality is worth more than sheer power, because the rear wheel gives almost no warning before it locks, and a pedal whose effect changes with the weather is a poor thing to develop a habit around. The material also holds its temperature down, so a long descent does not gradually change what the pedal is doing. A box contains the two pads the rear caliper takes.

Trailing the Pedal on a Wet Descent

Coming down a pass in bad weather, the rear brake of an F700GS turns into a stabiliser rather than a stopping device. A light, continuous pressure settles the chassis, keeps the bike from running on at the entry to a hairpin and leaves the front lever free for finer adjustment. Two things go wrong with that technique. The first is riding the pedal without noticing, which cooks the pad slowly and wastes its life; a foot resting beside the lever rather than on it prevents that. The second is grabbing a handful of rear when the surface turns greasy, which locks the wheel just as the bike is leaning. Apply it early, apply it gradually, and let the engine hold the speed wherever the gradient allows.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the rear wheel of the BMW F700GS, Accossato names the AGPP91 across the years 2013 to 2016. The catalogue stops there even though the model itself continued, so match your machine to the list rather than to the badge on the tank. One caliper means one box, and the pads inside should always go in as a pair, even when only one of the old ones looks worn. Up front the same bike is served by the AGPA92 pad between 2013 and 2018.

Road Approval

No German ABE has been issued for the AGPP91ST, and no other approval paperwork has reached us with it. We sell the pad plainly for track and competition riding.

Scope of Delivery

A set of two AGPP91 rear pads in the Sintered (ST) compound, boxed for one rear caliper.
