DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Diavel Carbon was the dressier member of the first Diavel family, with lighter wheels and a set of special body parts that make it the version many buyers look for today. Plenty of owners keep theirs in near-showroom condition, and anyone who changes a part on a Diavel Carbon thinks about the next owner at the same time. The original parts are worth keeping. For the Diavel Carbon from 2011 to 2013 and 2015 to 2018, Accossato has the FP004: an anodised aluminium oil filler cap, cut on CNC machines, with an M20x2.5 thread.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Ducati Diavel Carbon, 2011 to 2013 and 2015 to 2018
- Covers the Diavel Carbon and the facelifted Diavel Carbon FL
- M20x2.5 thread according to Accossato
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Colours: black, titanium, silver, red, gold, blue, green, orange
- Suits other motorcycles with the same cap size once checked
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the FP004 from aluminium and finishes it by anodising, which gives the cap its colour. For a Diavel Carbon, black and titanium look restrained, silver shows off the machining, and red, gold, blue, green or orange add a single accent. The thread is M20x2.5. According to Accossato, the cap suits its listed applications and may also be used on another motorcycle if that bike's cap is the same size, so the thread is the reference if you ever compare it with another engine.
Keep the Original in a Drawer
A Diavel Carbon that comes up for sale is judged differently from an ordinary used bike. Buyers ask for the service history, look for original parts and like to see that nothing has been changed without good reason. That does not rule out personalising the bike, as long as every change can be undone. When the FP004 goes in, put the original cap in a small labelled bag and store it with the bike's documents and the spare key, so it can be refitted quickly if a future buyer prefers the standard look. The swap itself takes little time, but do it properly. Open the filler only when the engine is switched off and has cooled, clean around it before the cap comes out so no dust falls in, and check the level the way the owner's manual of the Diavel Carbon describes. Clean the thread and the face it seals on, then screw the FP004 in by hand until it is snug; no pliers, no force. A cap that goes in cleanly and comes out cleanly years later is exactly what the next owner hopes to find. Once the engine has run again, look at the filler one more time: it should be dry.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FP004 for the Diavel Carbon from 2011 to 2013 and for the facelifted Diavel Carbon FL from 2015 to 2018. The list shows no entry for 2014, so if your Diavel Carbon dates from that year, compare the thread of the original cap before ordering. At Inter-Pace the same cap is also listed under the standard Diavel and the Monster 1200 S.
Road Approval
We have not been able to document an ABE or any other approval for the FP004, so it is offered for racing and competition use.
