DescriptionThe whole story▼
Since 2016 the Yamaha XSR700 has been the machine for riders who want modern running gear under an older-looking skin, and it has gathered a following that meets on Sunday mornings rather than on Saturday grids. Accossato lists it to 2026, including the Legacy version of 2024, and gives it the FC124: a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with the pawl available in six colours. It is a part for the days when such a bike does go through a circuit gate.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Yamaha XSR700, 2016 to 2026
- The ABS version and the Legacy of 2024 are listed as well
- Made completely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and shutting the tank
- Six colours for the pin: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl orderable separately as a spare
- Confirm the fit against the application list
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The cap is aluminium and only that, machined on CNC equipment, which Accossato sums up as robust and durable, and the design is a new one. Its quick-closing pawl is what separates it from the standard arrangement: the XSR700's tank opens in a moment and is shut again just as quickly. The pin inside the pawl provides the colour, one of six, chosen when the order is placed. Accossato lists the pawl on its own as well, so a damaged one is a small order rather than a new cap.
Club Runs and the Occasional Circuit
The world this machine lives in is a good deal gentler than a race paddock. There are morning meets in a car park, routes chosen for the roads rather than the destination, and a general interest in how a bike is put together. Once or twice a year the same group books a closed course, partly to ride and mostly for the day out, and that is when the equipment changes hands and gets compared. A machined cap with a coloured pin will be noticed in that company, and it will be asked about. Give the honest answer: it is quick to use when the XSR700 has to be filled several times in an afternoon, and it is a part for the circuit rather than for the road.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entries are the XSR 700 with ABS for 2016 to 2020, the XSR 700 from 2021 to 2026 and the Legacy of 2024, and this product covers them together. The XTribute version has a listing of its own. The same FC124 also appears at Inter-Pace under the MT-07, the MT-07 Pure and the MT-09.
Road Approval
Accossato documents neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate for the FC124, so it is a part for closed circuits. On public roads the XSR700 should keep its factory cap, which normally opens with the ignition key.
Scope of Delivery
One Accossato FC124 fuel tank cap with the pawl in the colour you choose. A replacement pawl can be ordered on its own.
