DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first laps on an unfamiliar track are a lesson in humility. Jumps look different from the take-off than they did from the fence, corners arrive sooner than expected, and on a Kawasaki KX250F every braking point has to be found from scratch. Riders who travel to different tracks learn to do that quickly and safely. For the KX250F from 2013 to 2020, Accossato makes the B8265, a folding front brake lever CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a short blade for three fingers and a joint that lets it fold forward in a crash.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Kawasaki KX250F, model years 2013 to 2020
- Fits the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever
- Short blade laid out for three fingers
- Blade can fold forward on the anti-break joint rather than breaking
- Machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Black, blue or green blade on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
The B8265 is CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075. Accossato uses this aluminium alloy, known for high strength, to produce levers that are light, strong and dependable, and makes this one in two parts. The base carries a dark finish, fits the pivot of the original front brake master cylinder and holds the joint; the blade comes in black, blue or green, and green is there for anyone who wants it to match the Kawasaki's plastics. The joint lets the blade fold forward. As a brake lever, the B8265 has Accossato's short blade for three fingers.
A Track You Have Never Ridden
The sensible approach starts before the engine is warm. Walk the track if the organisers allow it, or at least watch a session from the fence, and note where the quick riders brake, which lines they use and where the ground is soft. On the first laps, ride well below your limit, brake earlier than necessary and pick a reference point for each corner, such as a marker post, a tyre on the edge or a change in the colour of the soil. Then move the braking point a little closer to the corner each lap, one corner at a time, instead of trying to find the limit everywhere at once.
Overshooting a corner on an unfamiliar track is the classic mistake: the rider brakes where it would be right at the home track, realises too late that this corner is tighter, and the front tyre gives up under the extra pressure. The KX250F drops on its right, and the brake lever hits the ground first. The joint on the B8265 gives the blade a chance of folding forward instead of breaking, which may save the rest of a day that took hours of driving to reach. It is a possibility rather than a promise, and a spare lever packed with the tools is still a good idea on any trip.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8265 for the Kawasaki KX250F from 2013 to 2020, where it replaces the original lever on the stock front brake master cylinder. For the earlier bikes, 2004 to 2012, the list names the B8262 instead, and it names that lever for 2020 as well, so for a 2020 KX250F it is worth asking us before ordering. The C7261 folding clutch lever covers 2005 to 2020 and is offered in gold as well as black, blue and green.
Road Approval
No German ABE accompanies the B8265, which is sold for motocross and off-road competition on closed tracks.
