DescriptionThe whole story▼
Anyone who has ridden an FJR1300 across France or Italy knows the rhythm of the toll roads: long, steady stretches at cruising speed, then a line of booths where everything happens at once. Slow down, pick a lane, stop, pay, pull away, often up a slight slope and with a queue behind you. The Accossato ESC777 is a clutch lever for the FJR1300 from 2001 to 2020, machined from aluminium and adjustable in reach, for the moments when the left hand goes from resting to working within seconds.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Yamaha FJR1300, 2001 to 2020
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Blade-to-grip distance adjustable
- Three blade lengths, standard approximately 138 mm
- Machined aluminium, anodised in two tones
- Black hub; blade in one of seven colours
- No hinge in the blade
- Track use only: no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato produces the ESC777 by machining it from a solid piece of aluminium and anodising the result. That gives a lever with two faces: a black hub, which contains the pivot and the adjustment and blends in with the switchgear, and a coloured blade, which is the part you see and touch. There is no joint along the blade. It is a single stiff piece, so the movement you make at the tip goes straight into the clutch mechanism, with no hinge to absorb part of it.
Toll Booths and Tickets
The awkward thing about a toll booth is the gloves. Many riders pull off the right glove to take a ticket or pay, then set off again with one bare hand, while the left stays wrapped in thick leather on the clutch. With the bike in first gear and the clutch held in while you deal with the machine, the left hand does static work for longer than at any traffic light. A blade within easy reach makes that hold less tiring, and a bite point your fingers know makes the restart smooth even while your attention is on stowing the ticket and closing a pocket. Some riders prefer to select neutral at the booth, which spares the hand altogether but costs a moment when you leave. Either way, set the reach in the gloves you tour in, because toll roads are usually where the long days happen. On the FJR1300 the standard blade suits most hands, and the long one lightens the pull.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESC777 for the FJR1300 across its whole run from 2001 to 2020, divided on its list into the early bikes of 2001 and 2002 and the models from 2003 onwards. It replaces the original clutch lever at the stock mounting. On the right-hand side, the EDF016 brake lever covers the FJR1300 from 2004 to 2020. Black and red come in the standard length only, silver in standard or short.
Road Approval
The ESC777 does not have a documented German ABE and is therefore sold for track use.
