DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha R1M has always been the version of the R1 aimed most directly at the circuit, with electronically adjustable suspension as one of its defining features. Its owners often take track days seriously, arriving with lap timers and notes on their setup, and they know how much consistency depends on small details. Where the feet rest is one of them. Accossato's FT070 is an adjustable aluminium rearset for the R1M from 2015 to 2022. It moves the pegs further back than stock, has knurled pegs and lever tips, and can be shifted in the standard or reversed pattern.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, based in Villastellone near Turin, makes the FT070 from aluminium in a simple, functional design. For the rider's feet, three elements matter: knurled footpegs, knurled tips on the gear lever and brake pedal, and heel guards in aluminium. Accossato describes the kit as adjustable, but its product text contains no details about the adjustment, and we leave it at that rather than guess. Two versions are offered, all black or black with blue details.
The Same Foot Position Every Lap
Consistency is what turns one quick lap into a quick session. Riders who study their lap times often find that the time they lose is not down to one big mistake but to small variations: a brake marker missed by a few metres, a gear change a fraction late, a hesitant turn-in because the body was not yet in place. Many of those variations begin at the feet. If a boot has to search for the peg after a change of direction, or slips off the lever during a downshift, the rider's attention goes to the feet instead of the next corner. Rearsets that place the pegs further back and give the sole a knurled surface help the feet land in the same spot every time. On the R1M, whose suspension can be tuned closely to the rider's wishes, it makes sense to make the contact points just as dependable. A tip from experienced track riders: once the rearsets are adjusted to suit you, mark the settings or take a photograph, so that you can return to exactly the same position after any work on the bike.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT070 for the R1M across the 2015 to 2022 model years. Installation should be carried out by a workshop, which will adjust the shift linkage and the brake pedal, check free play and confirm that the brake light works. Fasteners are tightened to Yamaha's torque values, with thread locker where specified. Choosing the reversed pattern is common practice on the circuit, but it would be unusual for road riding. Before the first session, sit on the R1M on its stand and check the position in your leathers and boots.
Road Approval
Neither an ABE nor a parts report for German roads is documented for this kit; the FT070 is intended for circuit riding on the R1M.
