For most of its length the GSX-S950 is the same motorcycle as the model above it: same frame, same airbox, same intake tract, an engine held to a milder state of tune. That makes it a good place to be honest about what an air filter is. If an identical element sits in an identical box on a machine that deliberately makes less power, then the filter was never the part setting the number. A Sprint Filter P08 PM236S will not add power to a standard GSX-S950, and no drop-in element does. What it can do is give back the restriction it creates itself, hold that low figure instead of letting it climb with the kilometres, and stay in the bike as a part you clean rather than one you keep buying.
Key Features
- Dry P08 polyester, never oiled — nothing to be drawn onto the intake sensors
- The weave filters at 80 microns; airflow, 5,050 litres per square metre per second
- Spread across roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- A direct swap for the standard element: airbox, mapping and homologation unchanged
- Compressed air is the normal service; washable, and used again
- Purchase starts the two-year warranty
A milder state of tune still moves the same air
Tuning changes how much torque an engine makes; it changes far less about how much air moves through the airbox on a hard run up through the gears. A large four asks a lot either way, and a filter that has spent a season collecting grit needs more depression on the clean side for the same charge. None of that shows up as a fault — only as a slightly duller top end and a fuel figure creeping up over months, the sort of change a rider adapts to rather than notices. The point of a washable element is not that it beats paper when both are new; it is that you can restore the first condition whenever you like.
Dry polyester and the price of a finer weave
The P08 is a single layer of woven polyester, spun from threads of 22 microns and upwards, and it works dry. There is no oiled film upstream of the throttle bodies and nothing to re-treat after a wash. Sprint Filter measured four-layer oiled cotton holding 76.42 per cent of 100-micron test particles against 93.13 per cent for the dry P08. Where the air is harder the range weaves finer — P037 at 37 microns, P14 at 14, T12 at 7 — and every step costs flow: the P08 passes 5,050 litres per square metre per second, the P14 passes 1,800. A trade, not a ranking, and for a road machine the P08 sits on the right side of it.
Care and cleaning
The normal service is a two-minute job: compressed air through the element from the clean side outwards. When more is needed the PM236S washes in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, then dries completely in open air — never with heat, never with a flame. It is refitted dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-S950, 2022 to 2026, a direct replacement in the standard airbox. The same element covers four machines on this platform; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
