A Supermoto That Tours
Ducati added a screen, panniers, a larger tank and softer suspension to the Hypermotard and called it a Hyperstrada. It is one of the odder things the company has done and it worked rather well.
No Maker's Mark
This version has a plain face. For an owner who wants the cockpit improved without the component advertising itself, it is the version to choose.
A Hundred and Ten Horsepower
The same 821 cc twin as the Hypermotard, in a chassis set up for distance rather than for hooliganism. Ducati changed the springs and the ergonomics and left the engine alone.
Housing Without Switch
The switch block is unaffected. This part replaces the throttle assembly, which is the sensible purchase when nothing electrical needs attention.
Hours at One Opening
A Hyperstrada covers distance, which means holding a throttle position rather than working it constantly. A true bore makes that stable and the hand considerably fresher.
Black Anodised
Converted into the metal. A bike used for touring meets weather that a weekend machine avoids, and an anodised surface handles it where a coating does not.
Ergal 7075
Aerospace grade, roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined alloy. On a tall motorcycle carrying panniers, the bar takes real load in a topple.
Panniers as Standard
Ducati included semi-rigid bags rather than listing them as accessories. It is a small commitment and it made the Hyperstrada a genuinely usable proposition out of the showroom.
Quietly Discontinued
Ducati stopped building the Hyperstrada after the 939 and never replaced it. The people who bought one tend to keep it, which has made used examples surprisingly scarce.
