Twenty-Five Litres, Filled Every Time
A large tank and a rider who tops up at every opportunity. Between them they push liquid fuel into the carbon bed more reliably than any other combination.
The Result
Hard starting and a rough idle, usually a long way from home and usually blamed on something more expensive than a saturated canister.
Everything on the Vapour Side
Tank line, canister, purge line and the valve at the end of it. The kit accounts for all four.
Not Simply an Open Pipe
Cutting the vapour line short and leaving it is the usual improvisation. It works until the motorcycle lies on its side and then it very much does not.
Satisfied Rather Than Silenced
There is a difference between answering a test and masking its result, and only one of them survives a workshop scan.
Dynamic ESA
Electronically adjusted damping and automatic preload for load and pillion. On a fully packed tourer it removes the setting riders are least likely to get right.
A Densely Packed Motorcycle
Fairing, luggage, shaft drive and a boxer. Anything removed from behind the engine buys working room that is otherwise almost impossible to find.
Keep the Parts
Everything removed goes back on its own fasteners. A box on a shelf is all the conversion needs to be undone.
