DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Accossato 19x20 with a fixed lever for 1-inch handlebars is the firmest, promptest ratio Accossato offers on a 25.4 mm clamp, pairing a 19 mm dual-disc piston with a 20 mm pivot distance that shortens the lever stroke needed to reach full braking force. Applying the same hand pressure, that longer distance between the lever's rotation point and its pumping axis asks for more strength than the 18 or 19 mm versions, which is why Accossato does not recommend it for everyday street use. The fixed black lever keeps the unit simple for a Harley-Davidson Touring or Softail rider chasing the sharpest stop in this range.

Key Features

  • 19 mm piston diameter, suitable for dual-disc braking systems
  • Fixed 20 mm lever pivot distance, the promptest in the 1-inch range
  • Built for 1-inch (25.4 mm) handlebar clamps
  • Fixed lever in black, long or short, with relieving eyelet (RST) or without (NRST)
  • Forged aluminium body with natural anodising
  • Offset riser that reduces master cylinder deflection under hard braking
  • Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
  • Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material

Construction and Material Quality

The body on this unit is forged aluminium with a natural anodised finish, made entirely in Italy to the same specification as the rest of the 1-inch range: stainless steel mounting screws, a zinc-plated bleed valve, and seals formed from Formula 1 compound to resist repeated heat cycles and brake fluid exposure. An off-set riser reduces bending of the master cylinder body under hard use, and the passive stroke, the lever travel before the pads actually bite, stays more than 50 percent shorter than on a conventional radial master cylinder regardless of the pivot distance chosen.

20 mm Fixed: Built for a Sharper Stop

Accossato calls the 20 mm pivot distance the prompter version of its radial brake master cylinder because the lever stroke needed to reach full braking force is the shortest in the range, a direct result of the bigger distance between the lever's rotation point and the pumping axis. The trade-off is hand force: with the same pressure on the lever, this ratio needs more strength to generate the same braking power than the softer 18 or 19 mm settings do, which is also why the manufacturer does not recommend it for everyday street riding and points instead to track and competition use. Fitting it with a fixed rather than folding lever keeps the control simple for riders who have already decided they want this particular ratio and do not need the extra flexibility a hinged lever offers.

Fitment and Compatibility

This master cylinder fits 19 Harley-Davidson Touring and Softail motorcycles according to our fitment data, a group that takes in the Harley-Davidson ROAD GLIDE ST (2022-2023), the Harley-Davidson HERITAGE CLASSIC (2018-2025), the Harley-Davidson LOW RIDER S (2022-2025), the Harley-Davidson STREET GLIDE SPECIAL ST (2022-2022) and the Harley-Davidson ROAD KING SPECIAL (2018-2025). Full model years for every one of them are listed in the Fitment tab on this page; check it against your own registration before ordering.

Road Approval

This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The package includes the Accossato 19x20 radial brake master cylinder for 1-inch handlebars, fitted with the black fixed lever in the reach selected.
