DescriptionThe whole story▼

A whoop section is one of the hardest parts of a motocross track: a row of closely spaced mounds that punish every mistake. On a GasGas MC 450F the big four-stroke has the power to skim across the tops, but only if the rider stands in the right place and lets the bike work beneath. Throughout, the footpegs are the rider's only fixed point. Accossato makes enlarged Ergal footpegs for the MC 450F of 2021 to 2023, and both orange and black are available.

Key Features

  • Enlarged footpegs from Accossato for the GasGas MC 450F, 2021 to 2023
  • Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
  • Larger platform for long, rough sections ridden standing
  • Designed for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles
  • Orange or black
  • Sold as a pair
  • Same set also listed for the MC 250F and Husqvarna FC 350 and FC 450
  • No German ABE; for competition

Construction and Material Quality

The part is described by Accossato as an enlarged off-road footpeg made of Ergal, for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles, and that description is all it publishes. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy. The larger platform gives the boot more support, which is what counts when the whole body is balanced on two small surfaces over rough ground. The set contains two pegs, one per side, in the same colour. For the MC 450F, orange and black are available.

Skimming the Whoops

There are two ways through whoops: skimming across the tops at speed, or jumping from one to the next in a rhythm. Either way the rider stands, with the weight slightly back to keep the front wheel light, knees bent, elbows up and the grip firm but not rigid. The legs take up the movement of the bike while the arms steer. The feet stay planted on the pegs from the first mound to the last, because a boot that slips off in a whoop section usually ends the attempt.

On a 450, the throttle has to stay open through the whoops so the rear wheel drives over each mound instead of dropping into the gaps. That puts a lot of force through the pegs, and it lasts for many seconds at a time. Riders who tire in whoops often feel it first in the calves and feet. A larger peg spreads that load over more of the sole, which is the idea behind it. On the MC 450F, it is one small help in the section where a lap is most easily lost.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists this set for the MC 450F from 2021 to 2023, and we have linked it to those years. It is the only Accossato footpeg set for the bike; the same pair is also listed for the MC 250F and for the Husqvarna FC 350 and FC 450. After fitting, check the fold and return of each peg, and look over the mounts after the first practice session.

Road Approval

We do not have an ABE or any other approval for these pegs, and we offer them for motocross racing and competition.

Scope of Delivery

The set contains two footpegs, left and right, in orange or black.
