DescriptionThe whole story▼
Kart circuits have become a favourite playground for small supermotos, and the Kawasaki KLX 125 D-Tracker, the supermoto version of the KLX 125 with small wheels and road tyres, suits them well. The tight corners come one after another, and every one of them starts with a firm squeeze of the front brake. Accossato's B8145 is a folding front brake lever for the KLX 125 D-Tracker from 2010 to 2016. It is CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075 and has a short blade for three fingers, hinged so it can swing forward in a crash.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Kawasaki KLX 125 D-Tracker, 2010 to 2016
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Short three-finger blade
- Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward on impact
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black or green blade, dark base
- No German ABE documented; for track and off-road use only
Construction and Material Quality
Ergal 7075 is the material and CNC machining in Italy is the method: Accossato cuts the B8145 from solid stock of this high-strength aluminium alloy because it wants the lever strong, light and reliable. The part has two sections. A dark base goes onto the pivot of the D-Tracker's original master cylinder and holds the joint, and a blade in black or green hangs from it, free to fold forward if it is struck. The blade is the short brake-side shape, intended for three fingers.
A Kart Track on Small Wheels
Braking on a kart track is short and hard. The straights are brief, so the rider brakes firmly at the end of each one, with the bike upright and the weight pressed onto the front tyre, then releases the lever progressively while turning in. Supermoto riders often keep one or two fingers on the front brake all the way to the apex, trimming speed with small changes in pressure, because a sudden release makes the fork rebound and unsettles the bike. On the KLX 125 D-Tracker the speeds stay low, so it is a sensible machine on which to learn this trail-braking before trying it on anything bigger.
The typical crash on a kart track is a lowside: the front tyre loses grip on a cold or dusty patch and the bike slides out from under the rider. Low speed and a smooth surface keep most of those falls harmless for the rider, but the bike scrapes along on its side, and the brake lever is often ground away or snapped. The joint on the B8145 gives the blade the possibility of folding forward rather than breaking, so the session may continue after a quick check. Warm the tyres for a few laps before braking hard, and remember that the rubbered-in line of a kart track can turn slippery when damp.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Kawasaki KLX 125 D-Tracker, Accossato gives the model years 2010 to 2016 for the B8145, which is fitted to the original front brake master cylinder in place of the standard lever. On the left, the matching C7127 folding clutch lever covers the same span. Black and green are the colours for both, so the two sides can match exactly.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for the B8145. The KLX 125 D-Tracker is a road-registered bike, yet with this lever fitted it is not approved for public roads; use it on kart tracks, supermoto circuits and other closed ground.
