DescriptionThe whole story▼
At bike meets and club days, a favourite game is also the slowest one: the slow race. Riders line up, set off together and try to be the last across the finish line without putting a foot down or leaving their lane. The MSX125, small, light and low, is a natural entry, and the winner is usually the rider with the finest clutch control. The ESH250 from Accossato is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the MSX125 of 2014 to 2022, with an adjustable reach for exactly that kind of control.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Honda MSX125, 2014 to 2022
- Fits in place of the original lever at the clutch mounting
- Adjustable reach
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm in all colours
- Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green and orange
- Machined from solid aluminium and anodised
- Black hub, rigid blade
- Sold for track use, no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
The ESH250 starts as a block of aluminium that Accossato machines to shape and anodises. The hub, black on every lever, houses the pivot and the reach adjuster; the blade is anodised in one of seven colours. There is no hinge in it: the lever is fixed from end to end, so the bite point stays in the same place however long you hold it. The anodised surface is hard-wearing and keeps its colour on a bike that is parked outside every day.
The Slow Race
A slow race is won in the friction zone. Even in first gear, most bikes roll too fast at idle for a really slow pace, so the clutch has to be held partly engaged over the whole distance, with a steady, slightly raised engine speed and the rear brake dragging lightly to keep everything stable. The eyes stay up on the end of the lane, the knees hold the bike, and the left hand makes the tiny changes that decide whether the bike creeps on or stops and topples. That is hard work for the fingers if the lever sits too far away, because holding a half-pulled lever at full stretch soon tires them. Bring the ESH250 in until the friction zone falls with your fingers comfortably bent, and practise on the MSX125 in a car park with two cones before the event. The long blade, in blue, gold, green or orange, gives the lightest pull; the standard blade keeps the feel of the original. The same skill pays off every day in slow traffic and tight turns.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESH250 for the MSX125 from 2014 to 2022, fitted at the original clutch mounting. For the front brake of the same bikes, Accossato offers the EDF025, also listed for 2014 to 2022. MSX125 models from other years are not part of this listing.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the ESH250; we sell it as a lever for track use.
