DescriptionThe whole story▼
Braking in a group is as much about communication as about stopping. On a Sunday run or a club ride, the rider behind judges your intentions from your line and your brake light, and a machine as fast as the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RS can close a gap very quickly. The RS is the version of MV's four-cylinder naked bike that sits alongside the RR, and the Accossato EDF099 is a CNC-machined brake lever for it, listed from 2021 to 2025, with adjustable reach and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RS, 2021 to 2025
- Mounts on the original front brake master cylinder
- Adjustable distance from blade to grip
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm, available in all seven colours
- Short blade for two-finger braking in five colours; long blade in four
- Machined from solid aluminium, anodised, with a black hub
- Rigid construction without a folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Machining from solid aluminium gives the EDF099 dense, uniform metal and a shape that repeats exactly from one lever to the next. After the CNC work, Accossato anodises the part in two tones: the hub in black, around the pivot and the reach adjuster, and the blade in the colour you pick. Because the colour lives in an oxide layer grown from the aluminium itself, there is no film on top that could lift at the edges. The lever is fixed, a single piece from pivot to tip, so it has no joint that could add free play over time.
Riding in a Group
A stop that begins with a sudden grab gives the rider behind almost no warning. One that starts with a light squeeze switches the brake light on before the bike really slows, and lets everyone behind you brake progressively in turn. On a motorcycle with brakes as strong as those of the Brutale 1000 RS, that first phase is easy to skip, because the smallest movement of the lever already does a lot. Where the blade sits helps you keep it. With the reach set so that your fingers meet the blade without searching, the first millimetres of travel can be used deliberately rather than passed through in a hurry. Riders who brake with two fingers often choose the short blade, made in blue, gold, green, orange and silver; those who prefer the whole hand can have the long one in four colours. Keep a staggered formation and a gap of at least two seconds, and the lever's fine control does the rest. Before the first group ride on your Brutale 1000 RS with the new lever fitted, spend a few kilometres alone getting used to how it bites.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF099 for the Brutale 1000 RS from 2021 to 2025, and the same catalogue entry also names a Brutale 1000 for 2024. The lever fits the original front brake master cylinder in place of the standard part. No Accossato clutch lever is named for the RS. The Brutale 1000 RR and the Serie Oro are separate models in our range, each with its own product.
Road Approval
German road approval: none on file for the EDF099. It is offered for circuit use.
