DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Dark was the Monster 821 for riders who wanted the shape without the show: the same liquid-cooled twin and the same roadster stance, finished in black. On a bike dressed like that, any coloured part stands out, and the front brake lever sits right in your line of sight. Accossato's EDB012 replaces the original lever on the front master cylinder of the Monster 821 Dark from 2014 to 2019. It is machined from aluminium, its distance to the grip can be adjusted, and the blade is anodised in one of seven colours, black among them.
Key Features
- Takes the place of the original front brake lever on the Ducati master cylinder
- Adjustable distance between blade and handlebar grip
- Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) or long blade
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised surface
- Hub always black; blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green
- Fixed one-piece blade, no hinge
- Supplied in an Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the EDB012 on CNC machines and anodises it afterwards. Anodising is not a coat sitting on top of the metal; the coloured layer is formed from the aluminium surface itself, which is why a clean edge stays clean instead of chipping like paint. The hub, which holds the pivot and the reach adjuster, is black on every version. Only the blade carries a colour, and it is one fixed piece from the hub to the tip, with no joint anywhere along its length.
One Accent on a Black Monster
How much colour a dark bike can take is a personal decision, and the brake lever is an easy place to make it. A black blade keeps the Monster 821 Dark as dark as it left the factory, with nothing in the cockpit to draw the eye. A coloured blade does the opposite. Red, orange or gold on a black Monster 821 becomes the one bright detail, and you see it every time you glance down at the instruments. Silver sits in between, quieter than the bright shades but still clearly separate from the black hub.
If you go for colour, plan both hands together. The ESD082 clutch lever for the Monster 821 Dark is made in the same seven colours, so the accent can be symmetrical, or kept on the brake side alone if you prefer a single touch of contrast. One practical point decides some of these choices: red, like black, is only made as a standard-length lever, while orange, gold, blue and green are available short, standard or long.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDB012 for the Monster 821 Dark from 2014 to 2019 and names two versions, 2014 to 2017 and 2018 to 2019. The split follows the update Ducati gave the Monster 821 for the 2018 model year; the brake lever reference is the same for both. It mounts on the original front master cylinder of the Dark. Other Monster 821 versions are sold as separate products in our shop, and the clutch side of this bike is covered by the ESD082.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the EDB012, so we offer it for track use only.
