Dark Style

Dark style is Spark's darkened stainless: the surface is taken down rather than painted, so what you get is a grey-black metal finish with the grain still visible instead of a coating sitting on top of one. It does not chip the way paint does and it does not flake off the hot end the way some ceramic finishes eventually will.

On a build with black wheels and a dark engine it disappears into the machine, which is usually the point of choosing it over the bright version. The same silencer in scotch-brite stainless is article G00SI06IM and costs less.

A Kilo

One kilogram, complete. That is roughly a quarter of what a standard silencer on a mid-capacity road bike weighs, and it is the number that makes a megaphone worth building in steel rather than in titanium — at this weight the material saving stops being the argument.

The Insert Is In the Box

The db killer comes with the silencer and comes out with hand tools. Circuits that enforce a limit at the gate are the reason it exists; a megaphone with the insert removed is a loud object and Spark does not pretend otherwise.

No Certificate, and No Way Around It

This silencer carries no homologation. There is no configuration of insert, adapter or pipework that turns a universal can into an approved one, because approval is granted to a complete system on a named motorcycle and not to a component.

For a show bike, a track bike or a machine registered as a custom under national rules, that may be irrelevant. For a daily road bike it is not, and it is worth being clear about before the money moves.
