DescriptionThe whole story▼
Violet is not a colour you meet on many motocross goggles, and that is exactly what makes this Sidi Fulmen Mirror appealing. A violet strap and violet side pieces, a black front and a gold mirror lens let it stand out on the start gate without any fluo at all.
Under the paint it is Sidi's lightweight Fulmen: a 135-gram goggle with a reinforced frame, a pair of lenses and adjustable outriggers for a stable hold on the helmet.
Key Features
- Violet strap and side pieces, black lens surround, white logo, gold mirror lens
- Weight of 135 g, as stated by Sidi
- Mirrored Cat. 2 lens (19–42% VLT) plus a clear Cat. 0 lens (80–100% VLT) in the box
- Anti-fog coating and scratch-resistant lens treatment
- FLOW CORE ventilation channels air through the frame
- Triple-layer hyper foam for cushioning, sweat absorption and a stable face seal
- Jacquard elastic strap on adjustable outriggers for helmet integration
- Reinforced frame described by Sidi as anti-intrusion; replaceable components
Built Light, Built Tough
Sidi keeps the Fulmen at 135 grams, light enough to ease pressure on the face across a long session. Even so, the frame is reinforced, and Sidi describes it as anti-intrusion, meant to keep dirt and flying debris out. The material mix is 45% TPU, 25% polycarbonate, 15% PES, 12% PU foam and 3% silicone and other components.
Lens Choice
You get two lenses. The gold mirror is Category 2: according to Sidi's chart it transmits between 19% and 42% of visible light and cuts glare on sunny tracks. Swap to the included clear lens, Category 0 with 80% to 100% transmission, when the light turns flat or you ride indoors. The lens is coated against fog and treated to resist scratches.
A Frame That Breathes
FLOW CORE is the name Sidi gives to the ventilation built into the frame. Air is channelled through the structure, which helps carry moisture away from the lens and keeps the goggle breathable while you are working hard.
Face Seal
A triple-layer hyper foam forms the contact zone with your face. It cushions, absorbs sweat and keeps the fit steady. The strap is woven jacquard elastic, connected via adjustable outriggers that help the goggle follow the helmet and spread the pressure.
Where It Fits In
Sidi positions the Fulmen for everything from practice laps to full race days. Replaceable components are meant to keep it going over several seasons, although the documentation does not say which ones.
What You Should Know
No standard or certification is given for the Fulmen Mirror, so read anti-intrusion as a manufacturer claim. Sidi says nothing about tear-off pins or wearing the goggle over glasses. In low light the gold mirror lens is the wrong choice; fit the clear one instead. It is sold in a single size.
Colour
The violet is a deep, slightly bluish purple covering the strap and the outer frame sections, while the lens surround is black. Large white SIDI letters run across the band. The gold mirror lens shines yellow to orange depending on the angle, a warm contrast to the cool violet. The combination is distinctive, works with purple, black or white kits, and its darker tones are fairly forgiving with dirt.
