A shim is a thin, ground steel washer, and the stack of them is what generates damping.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 05030-02

Where It Sits

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different curves. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different damping. Shims are reused only if they are undamaged and flat; a coned shim is finished.

Why the Original

Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. Öhlins numbers every position so a workshop can order precisely what it needs, not a whole assembly. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. If you are unsure which number your unit takes, send us the model and serial number of the damper and we will look it up.

Getting the Number Right

If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 05030-02. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Öhlins stamps and grinds its shims to tolerances a general-purpose washer never holds. Suspension technicians keep these in stock by size because a revalve means changing several at once.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05030-02

Category: Shims

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05030-02_40a8cfba-7ecf-45a4-ba51-fdced456c4e1.png?v=1788876266
