DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered for riders who demand race-level precision, the K-Tech DDS Closed Cartridge Kit transforms the front-end behaviour of the Yamaha YZF-R6 RJ11 and RJ15 (2008–2016) into something that feels purpose-built for the circuit. Proven in the British Superbike Championship and at the Isle of Man TT, this pressurised Direct Damping System replaces the standard cartridge with a sophisticated, cavitation-free unit that delivers consistent, nuanced control lap after lap.
Key Features
- 30-way independently adjustable compression and rebound damping for dial-in precision across every track surface and riding style
- Patented DDS (Direct Damping System) technology eliminates cavitation and maintains stable, reliable damping even under sustained high-speed stress
- Asymmetric, independent damping circuits sharpen response time and overall fork dynamics compared to a conventional cartridge
- 20 mm piston paired with 31 mm control valves increases oil flow for smoother, more progressive damping feel
- 8 mm piston rod minimises system offset and reduces unwanted flex in the damping stack
- Increased stroke versus the original OEM cartridge, expanding the suspension travel window available to the rider
- Race-validated lineage — used in British Superbike and Isle of Man TT competition
Direct Damping System Technology
The DDS architecture pressurises the entire cartridge assembly, keeping the oil column consistently primed and free of air intrusion. Where a standard cartridge relies on a single damping circuit that can cavitate under hard braking or repeated high-frequency inputs, the K-Tech DDS unit uses spring-generated preload to hold the system at constant operating pressure. The result is damping that feels identical on the first corner of the day as it does on the last lap of a race.
Asymmetric Damping Circuits
By separating the compression and rebound circuits entirely — the asymmetric, independent layout — K-Tech allows each side of the damping equation to be tuned without cross-contamination. Riders setting up for a specific circuit can adjust compression stiffness under braking without altering the rebound rate mid-corner, giving far greater granularity than a linked system allows.
Setup & Adjustment
The kit ships with 3 pairs of springs to cover a wide range of rider weights and preferences, along with dedicated spring-change tools to make fork servicing straightforward. Recommended baseline settings are 16 compression clicks, 18 rebound clicks, and 10 mm of preload, giving a calibrated starting point for any track day or race weekend. The 18 mm preload adjustment range and 30-click damping range ensure there is sufficient scope to fine-tune from that baseline without reaching the limits of the system.
For optimal safety and to ensure the full performance capability of the kit is realised, installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is strongly recommended.
Fitment & Compatibility
