The Pure was the R nineT stripped of the expensive parts: cast wheels instead of spoked, conventional forks, a simpler finish. It exists so that the boxer roadster could be somebody's first BMW rather than their fourth, and first bikes get ridden a lot.

Material and Pivot
Solid aluminium, machined and hard anodised, with the pivot bore phosphated as its own operation. It arrives tight and is treated to stay so, which on a bike ridden through winters rather than stored for them is the specification that counts.

A Boxer at Standstill
The transverse boxer rocks gently when you blip the throttle, which is charming and also means the bars move slightly under your hands at low speed. A blade the fingers can rest on rather than reach for makes that a non-event.
