DescriptionThe whole story▼
The MP003 is the larger-bore counterpart to the MP001 in Accossato's pedal-operated rear brake master cylinder line, built around a 13.5 mm piston rather than 10.5 mm, for machines whose rear circuit needs more fluid displacement than the smaller unit provides. Like the MP001, it works through the standard footbrake pedal rather than a thumb or hand lever, and is made entirely in Italy from CNC-machined aluminium. Accossato does not publish a specific vehicle list for this piston size, treating it instead as a universal pedal-operated master cylinder for a broader range of rear brake circuits.
Key Features
- 13.5 mm piston diameter for larger rear brake circuits
- Actuated from the standard footbrake pedal, not a thumb or hand lever
- CNC-worked aluminium body with a black hard oxidation finish
- 10 mm brake hose fitting with a 40 to 50 mm hose-fixing distance
- Made entirely in Italy to Accossato's own tolerances
- Universal fitment, not matched to a specific model in our fitment data
- Not recommended for use together with a thumb brake master cylinder on one circuit
Construction and Material Quality
Construction follows the same process as the rest of Accossato's rear brake family: a CNC-worked aluminium body finished with a hard, black surface oxidation treatment, machined around the larger 13.5 mm bore to the tolerances needed for a firm, consistent pedal feel. The distance between the two brake-hose fixing points is 40 to 50 mm, the same spacing used on the smaller-bore MP001, which keeps the mounting footprint shared across both piston sizes even though the bore itself differs. The brake hose fitting is sized at 10 mm to suit the larger piston, rather than the 8 mm fitting used on the 10.5 mm version.
Piston Size and Pedal Feel Explained
Moving from the 10.5 mm MP001 to the 13.5 mm MP003 changes how much fluid the pedal pushes per stroke, which generally gives a firmer, more immediate rear brake response at the pedal, at the cost of slightly more force needed at the foot to reach the same braking pressure. This larger bore suits heavier machines or set-ups where the rear calliper needs more fluid volume than the smaller piston can comfortably supply. As with the MP001, Accossato does not recommend combining the MP003 with a thumb brake master cylinder from the BP001 to BP012 range on the same circuit; the double-ended MP005 exists specifically to let a pedal and a thumb or hand control work together.
Fitment and Compatibility
The MP003 is not matched to any particular motorcycle in our fitment data; like the smaller-bore MP001 it is treated as a universal pedal-operated rear brake master cylinder rather than a model-specific part. Before ordering, check the 40 to 50 mm hose-fixing distance and 10 mm hose fitting against your existing rear brake lines, and confirm the 13.5 mm piston is the right size for your rear brake system.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for off-road, competition and adaptive hand-control use.
Scope of Delivery
The package includes the Accossato MP003 rear brake master cylinder in black CNC-worked aluminium, sized for a 13.5 mm piston and a 10 mm brake hose fitting. The fluid reservoir and brake hose are not included and must be sourced separately.
