DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of adult riders come back to motocross after years away, and many of them choose a small two-stroke for the return. A KTM 150 SX from 2009 to 2015 is light and simple to look after, and it brings the old skills back quickly. It also shows, just as quickly, which of those skills have faded. Accossato's C7284 was made for exactly these bikes: a clutch lever milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy, with room for four fingers on the blade and a hinge that lets it fold away in a fall.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the KTM 150 SX, 2009 to 2015
- Accossato lists it for the 2009–2013 and 2014–2015 bikes
- Replaces the stock lever on the original clutch fitting
- Longer blade for four fingers
- Anti-break hinge lets the blade tip forward instead of breaking
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue or orange, dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the C7284 from Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy with a very high strength for its weight, milled from solid on CNC machines in Italy. The Italian company wants its off-road levers to be strong, light and reliable, and this one follows the usual two-part layout: a dark base fixed on the pivot of the clutch fitting, and a blade in black, blue or orange joined to the base by the hinge. Because this is the clutch side, the blade is the longer design, with room for four fingers.
Back on a Two-Stroke After Years Away
The first rides after a long break are humbling. The body remembers the shape of a motocross track, but the timing has gone: braking points arrive too early or too late, the bike feels faster than it used to, and the forearms tire within a few laps. Two-strokes add a lesson of their own. Riders who spent the intervening years on road bikes or four-strokes have to relearn how much the clutch matters on a small-bore engine, and how suddenly the power arrives once the revs are up.
That relearning comes with falls, most of them small: a stall in a turn, a foot dabbed onto nothing, a slow tip-over when the rear wheel spins on a slippery face. Each one is a chance to break a lever, and a returning rider with a busy week ahead does not want to spend evenings hunting for parts for an older 150 SX. The hinge on the C7284 allows the blade to fold forward in such falls instead of snapping. It will not save the lever every time, but it should mean fewer broken ones while the old skills come back.
Fitment and Compatibility
Two version groups of the KTM 150 SX are named for the C7284, 2009 to 2013 and 2014 to 2015, and on both it replaces the stock lever at the original clutch fitting. From 2016 Accossato switches to the C7283. For the front brake there is the folding B8283, listed from 2014, so a 2014 or 2015 150 SX can carry matching levers in black, blue or orange; the 2009 to 2013 bikes can take a folding clutch lever only.
Road Approval
No documented German ABE exists for the C7284. It is made for motocross and closed off-road ground, which is also where a 150 SX is ridden.
