DescriptionThe whole story▼

A 125cc two-stroke makes its power in a narrow band near the top of the rev range, and keeping it there is the whole art of riding one. On a Husqvarna TC 125 that job falls largely to the left hand: the clutch is fanned out of every slow turn, at the foot of steep jump faces and whenever the revs start to sag. For the 2022 TC 125, Accossato lists the C7283: a folding clutch lever cut from Ergal 7075 in Italy, whose long four-finger blade sits on a joint that can fold forward.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna TC 125, 2022 model year
  • Installed at the original clutch mount
  • Long blade for four fingers
  • Anti-break joint lets the blade fold forward in a crash
  • Milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
  • Blade in black, blue, orange or red
  • No German ABE documented; motocross use

Construction and Material Quality

For a lever that works as hard as a 125's clutch lever, the build matters. Accossato CNC-machines the C7283 in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, with strength, low weight and reliability as its declared aims. It is made up of a dark base on the pivot of the TC 125's original clutch mount and a blade in black, blue, orange or red, which connects to the base through the joint that lets it fold. The blade is long and drawn for four fingers, the shape Accossato gives its clutch levers.

On the Pipe

Riders call it keeping the bike on the pipe, after the expansion chamber that gives a two-stroke its surge of power. Out of a slow corner the TC 125 needs revs before it will drive, so the rider holds the throttle open and slips the clutch until the engine climbs into its power, then releases the lever and lets the bike pull. On a jump face, a quick pull and release can bring the revs up for the take-off. Over a race the left hand makes these small movements hundreds of times, and it relies on the lever always being in the same place.

That makes a bent or broken clutch lever especially costly on a 125. Without it the rider cannot keep the engine in its power, and on a technical track the bike becomes a struggle to ride. The C7283 is built so that its blade can fold forward when the bike is dropped on its left, rather than taking the full impact at the end. It gives the lever a chance to come through the fall ready for the next corner; it does not rule out damage in a big crash. On a class of bike where the clutch is part of the engine's character, that chance matters more than usual.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the C7283 for the Husqvarna TC 125 of the 2022 model year only, installed at the original clutch mount. The TC 125 from 2014 to 2021 is matched with the C7284 instead. The B8283 folding brake lever covers every year from 2014 to 2022. Red is a C7283 option; the brake lever and the C7284 come in black, blue or orange.

Road Approval

There is no German ABE documented for the C7283. Like the TC 125 it is meant for, it belongs on motocross circuits and other off-road ground closed to traffic.

Scope of Delivery
