DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riders who move from a two-stroke to a Yamaha YZ250F often notice the braking before anything else. Close the throttle on the four-stroke and it slows noticeably on its own, which changes where and how hard the front brake needs to be used going into a corner. Accossato's B8265 is a folding brake lever for the YZ250F from 2007 to 2022. It is CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, has a short blade for three fingers, and its joint allows the blade to fold forward in a fall.

Construction and Material Quality
Italian machining and a demanding alloy are the two basics of the B8265. Accossato cuts it from solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy of high strength, on CNC machines, and names strength, low weight and reliability as what it wants from the result. The lever is made in two parts: a dark base on the master cylinder pivot and a blade in black, blue or green, which can pick up the blue of Yamaha's bodywork if you like. A joint connects them and lets the blade fold. The brake blade is the short one, for three fingers.
Engine Braking and the Front Lever
A two-stroke rolls on freely when you shut the throttle; a four-stroke like the YZ250F holds back. Riders coming from a two-stroke therefore tend to brake too early and too hard at first, arriving at the turn slower than necessary, or, once used to the engine braking, they grab the front brake late and overload the front tyre. Both habits need unlearning. The usual advice is to close the throttle a little later than on a two-stroke, let the engine do part of the slowing, and use the front brake smoothly to set the speed, releasing it progressively as the bike leans into the turn.
During that learning period, the front tucks more often than anyone would like, and the YZ250F lands on its side in the turn. That is when the construction of the B8265 comes into play. Its joint allows the blade to swing forward rather than breaking off, so there is a fair chance you ride the rest of the session with the same lever. No lever survives every impact, but one that can fold takes some of the sting out of the change. Once the new rhythm settles, corner entries on the four-stroke tend to feel calmer rather than slower.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8265 for the Yamaha YZ250F in two version groups, 2007 to 2008 and 2009 to 2022, fitted to the original front brake master cylinder. The C7266 folding clutch lever is listed from 2009 to 2022, so a 2007 or 2008 YZ250F can be fitted on the brake side only. Black and blue are shared by both levers; green is available for the brake lever alone.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the B8265. It is intended for motocross and off-road competition, which is where the YZ250F is meant to be ridden.
