Put the two Sprint Filter versions of this fitment side by side and almost the entire page cancels out. Same dry polyester, same absence of oil, same doubled cloth area, same drop into the series airbox, same washing routine, same two-year guarantee, same eleven machines on the list. Two numbers differ, plus the price. Reducing the decision to that is the most useful thing this description can do for an owner of a Turismo Veloce.
Key Features
- Racing specification of the P08 cloth: polyester, woven, run dry for its whole life
- Filtration 85 µm, throughput rated at 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Standard P08 for comparison: 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec, at a fraction of the price
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance elements in both versions
- Direct replacement in the standard airbox — no modification, no mapping change
- Cleaned and refitted for the life of the motorcycle, with two years of warranty
The two numbers, and which one a tourer spends
Throughput is capacity per second, and it is only drawn on while the engine is taking everything it can. Aperture is not a per-second quantity at all: it describes what gets through whenever air is moving, at any speed, in any gear, for the whole of a riding day. A machine built to cover ground spends its hours in the middle of the throttle range with luggage on the back, which is a long, steady demand rather than a large one. That pattern uses very little of the capacity on offer and every minute of the wider opening.
Where the money is better placed
The racing element runs to roughly two and a half times the standard P08 for the same fitment, so the question is what those extra funds buy on this particular motorcycle — and on a sport-tourer the answer is capacity in exchange for retention, which is the wrong way round. The plain P08 keeps every property that makes these filters worth having and gives up nothing a touring pace will notice. Where the routes are genuinely dusty, the P14 at 14 microns and 1,800 l/m²/sec goes further in the useful direction. CM135S F1-85 is the right part here only if the machine is doing repeated track work between trips.
Care and cleaning
Service it with air before reaching for water: the line goes on the clean face and blows outward, returning the load to the side it came from. A wash is for what the compressor leaves behind after a long, dirty route — lukewarm water, a mild detergent, a rinse repeated until the water is clear. From there, time and air do the rest. Every heat source is off limits, from a hairdryer to an exhaust manifold to an open flame, and the element is only refitted once it is dry throughout, with nothing applied. Downloads holds the maintenance sheet.
Fitment & Compatibility
Specified for the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 and its Lusso, RC and SCS versions, 2015 to 2026. Eleven machines take the identical element, from the 675 Brutale and F3 to the Brutale 800, Dragster RR, F3 800 and RC, F3 Ago, Rivale, RVS #1, Stradale and Superveloce.
