The Dyno with carbon end caps, and the least expensive of the three. Spark's newest silencer for the Super Duke keeps its milled aluminium geometry in the anodised versions and swaps to woven carbon here — a different material, a different look and a hundred and forty euros less.
Key Features
- Euro5 homologated underseat silencer pair for the KTM 1290 and 1390 Super Duke R, 2020 to 2026.
- Dyno silencers with carbon fibre end caps.
- 2.6 kg against 3.3 kg standard.
- The most affordable of Spark's three Dyno versions.
- Not compatible with the passenger footrests or the RR version.
- Double under-seat layout.
Carbon Against Milled Aluminium
The anodised versions of this silencer make a feature of machining: a five-axis milled cap, perforated, with different radii inside and out so it catches light from several angles. Spark describes it as reflecting sunlight like a jewel.
The carbon cap does the opposite. It is a moulded part with a woven surface, matt where the aluminium is bright, and it reads as material rather than as machining. Neither is better made. They are two different ideas about what the end of an exhaust should look like, and Spark charges least for the carbon one.
Where Carbon Belongs on a Silencer
The end cap is the one place on an exhaust where carbon fibre genuinely makes sense. It sits at the coolest point of the system, after the gas has given up most of its heat, and it carries no structural load beyond closing the case.
Elsewhere on an exhaust carbon is decoration at best. Here it is doing a real job at a real temperature, which is why Spark and most of its competitors use it exactly at this point and nowhere else.
Everything the Others Do
Nothing else changes between the three Dyno versions. Same silencers, same 2.6 kg against a standard 3.3 kg, same Euro5 approval, same underseat mounting and the same two restrictions: no passenger footrests, and not for the RR version.
Spark added the Dyno when it extended the range to the 1390 Super Duke R Evo, alongside a full update of everything already approved to Euro5. It is the newest case in the programme, and this is the way into it.
Four Hundred Grams and Where They Go
The saving against standard is 2.6 kg against 3.3 kg. On a motorcycle with this much power, seven hundred grams is not a performance claim and Spark does not make one.
What changes is the distribution: one heavy silencer hanging off one side is replaced by two light ones, high, close together and near the centreline. On a bike with a very short wheelbase and quick steering, that symmetry is felt in direction changes rather than measured on a scale — and it is the reason to convert rather than simply to replace.
Fitment & Compatibility
KTM 1290 Super Duke R, 1290 Super Duke R EVO, 1390 Super Duke R and 1390 Super Duke R EVO, 2020 through 2026. Not for the RR version. The orange anodised version is GKT0120TOMA and the black anodised GKT0120TOMN. The Grid-O pair is GKT0111TOM and the Moto GP pairs GKT0117TOM and GKT0117DOM.
