A Middleweight With Professional Electronics
Fitting a MoTeC system to a supersport machine is a considerable commitment relative to what the bike costs, and it happens because the class is competitive enough to justify it. Data is how a rider finds the last half-second when the machinery is essentially equal.
Eight Model Years
The fitment covers the 2009 revision through to the end of the generation in 2016. Kawasaki alternated between 599 cc and 636 cc across that period without changing the handlebar interface, so the displacement does not affect the part.
Aligned Clamp Bolts
This drilling suits master cylinders whose two clamp bolts sit on a line square to the bar. The offset version exists for the other geometry, and the check is a matter of looking at the motorcycle rather than at a catalogue.
The Loom Is a Prerequisite
The switch connects to the MoTeC harness, not to Kawasaki's. A racing loom has to be in place and the dashboard configured before it does anything, and that installation is considerably more work than fitting the switch itself.
An Old Bike Worth Preparing
A 2012 ZX-6R costs very little and is still competitive at club level. That combination is why serious preparation on machines of this age makes sense, and why professional-grade electronics turn up on motorcycles that cost less than the system in them.
Machined From Solid
Ergal 7075 with sealed switch elements. What the thumb reads at pace is the edge around each button, and that edge is why the part is milled rather than moulded.
